Gabrielle Martin - Executive Director
On November 1st, 2006, the LMBIA board appointed Gabrielle Martin as its new executive director. Gabrielle brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her diverse and lengthy tenure in the not-for-profit sector, particularly with healthcare, community-based services to people with developmental disabilities and brain injury, advocacy and educational services in the multicultural and immigrant sector, and training and support services for at-risk youth.

A skilled general manager, with expertise in organizational leadership, planning and development, Gabrielle's immediate focus with LMBIA is on organizational renewal and growth - especially in the future development of much-needed programs and services in other areas of the Lower Mainland.

With a strong background in both human resources and financial management, as well as marketing and fund development, Gabrielle is working with the LMBIA board, members, staff and volunteers to plan and develop more comprehensive services, strengthen the infrastructure, diversify and increase funding sources to achieve long term stability, and to help the Association move towards its goal of increasing support to brain injury survivors.

A native of New Zealand and educated in Australia, Gabrielle began her career teaching in the Arts and operating her own business. In 1973, with her young family, she moved to Canada at which time she embarked on her career in administration of community services.
